Nos Estados Unidos, o Dia da Independência é celebrado anualmente em 4 de julho. A data marca a aprovação da Declaração de Independência em 1776, quando as Treze Colônias declararam sua separação do Reino Unido, dando início ao nascimento de uma nação soberana.
Breve histórico
- Em 2 de julho de 1776, o Congresso aprovou a resolução de independência; dois dias depois, em 4 de julho, o texto final da Declaração foi adotado – o marco que deu origem à celebração anual.
- Os primeiros eventos de comemoração ocorreram já em 1777, com desfiles, sinos, fogueiras e fogos de artifício, especialmente na Filadélfia .
